Fair Usage Policy

1. Purpose

This Fair Usage Policy ensures that all Salead users have access to high-quality, reliable service. It prevents abuse and excessive usage that could impact service quality for other users.

3. What Counts as Fair Usage

Fair usage means using the Service:

  • Within your plan's specified limits
  • For legitimate business lead generation
  • Without attempting to circumvent restrictions
  • Without excessive API calls or automated abuse
  • In compliance with Reddit's Terms of Service
  • Without causing harm to the platform or other users

4. Prohibited Usage

The following activities are NOT considered fair usage:

4.1 Excessive Usage

  • Creating multiple accounts to bypass limits
  • Automated or bot-driven scanning beyond plan limits
  • Requesting scans more frequently than reasonable
  • Using scripts or tools to automate manual actions

4.2 Abusive Behavior

  • Spam or harassment of Reddit users
  • Mass scraping of Reddit data for resale
  • Using the Service for illegal activities
  • Violating Reddit's policies or community guidelines

4.3 System Abuse

  • Attempting to reverse engineer the Service
  • Probing for security vulnerabilities
  • Overloading systems with requests
  • Sharing account credentials

4.4 Commercial Misuse

  • Reselling leads obtained through the Service
  • Using the Service to build a competing product
  • Sharing data with unauthorized third parties

5. Monitoring and Enforcement

We monitor usage to ensure compliance with this policy:

5.1 Automated Monitoring

  • API request rates and patterns
  • Scan frequency and volume
  • Account activity patterns
  • Resource consumption

5.2 Manual Review

We may review accounts that:

  • Consistently hit plan limits
  • Show unusual activity patterns
  • Receive complaints from Reddit users
  • Trigger automated abuse detection

6. Consequences of Policy Violation

Depending on the severity of the violation, we may:

6.1 First Violation

  • Send a warning email
  • Request compliance within 48 hours
  • Temporarily limit certain features

6.2 Repeated Violations

  • Suspend account for 7 days
  • Require acknowledgment of policy
  • Impose stricter usage limits

6.3 Serious Violations

  • Immediate account suspension or termination
  • No refund for remaining subscription period
  • Ban from creating new accounts
  • Legal action if applicable

7. Rate Limiting

To ensure service quality, we implement rate limits:

API Rate Limits

  • Manual Scans: Limited based on your plan
  • Data Export: Once per hour
  • Account Changes: 10 per minute
  • Keyword Updates: 50 per hour

Exceeding Limits

If you exceed rate limits:

  • You'll receive a 429 "Too Many Requests" response
  • Retry after the specified cooldown period
  • Persistent violations may trigger policy enforcement

8. Resource Consumption

Even on "Unlimited" plans, we expect reasonable resource use:

CPU and Memory

Scans that consume excessive CPU or memory may be throttled or limited. This includes:

  • Very broad keywords that match thousands of posts
  • Simultaneous scanning of hundreds of keywords
  • Complex AI analysis requests

Storage

We provide generous storage, but may limit:

  • Archived leads older than 90 days on lower plans
  • Total campaign history to reasonable amounts

9. Third-Party API Limits

We rely on third-party APIs (Reddit, OpenAI, Google) that have their own rate limits. If these services impose restrictions:

  • We may need to temporarily reduce scanning frequency
  • AI analysis may be queued during high demand
  • Service availability may be affected

We'll notify users of any significant third-party limitations.

10. Upgrading for More Usage

If you consistently hit your plan limits and need more:

  • Upgrade to a higher plan through your dashboard
  • Contact us for enterprise/custom plans
  • We can discuss tailored limits for legitimate high-volume needs

11. Service Quality Guarantee

This policy helps us maintain:

  • 99.9% uptime target for the Service
  • Fast response times for scans and API calls
  • Reliable notifications without delays
  • Quality AI analysis without queuing

12. Reporting Abuse

If you believe another user is violating this policy or abusing the Service:

Email: abuse@salead.com

Include:

  • Description of the violation
  • Evidence (screenshots, links, etc.)
  • Impact on you or others

13. Appeals Process

If your account is limited or suspended:

  1. You'll receive an email explaining the reason
  2. You can appeal by replying to that email
  3. We'll review within 48 hours
  4. If justified, we'll restore access
  5. If violation is confirmed, we'll explain next steps

14. Policy Updates

We may update this Fair Usage Policy to:

  • Clarify existing terms
  • Adjust limits as the Service evolves
  • Address new types of abuse
  • Improve service quality

Material changes will be communicated via email and posted on this page.
